Growths on the Eyeball

Cysts, Pterygium or Pinguecula are growths that can occur on the white of your eye.  They usually don’t cause problems or require treatment, but they can be removed if they interfere with your vision or irritate your eyes.

Cysts

  • Fluid filled pockets
  • Can be drained or removed surgically (If large or recurrent)

Pterygium/Pinguecula

  • Growths on the eyeball that can extend over the cornea (clear surface of the eye)
  • Often can be observed without treatment
  • If become irritating or interfere with vision, surgical removal is often necessary
