Glaucoma Treatment
Currently, there is no cure for glaucoma. The treatment focuses on preventing further damage and protecting your vision.
Treatment for glaucoma includes medication, laser and surgery
MEDICATIONS – Eye Drops are frequently used to treat glaucoma by lowering the Intraocular Pressure (IOP) –the pressure within the eyeball. It is important to take your medications regularly and exactly as prescribed if you are to control your eye pressure.
SURGERY – When medications and laser therapies do not adequately lower eye pressure, Dr. Rothbaum may recommend surgery. These surgeries can be performed as a single procedure or in conjunction with Cataract Surgery.
LASER TREATMENT – Laser treatments are used to treat both Open Angle and Closed Angle Glaucoma. These procedures are done in the office and normal activities can be performed immediately following the Laser.
