Eyelid Lesions &
Malposition
An eyelid lesion is a growth that develops on the eyelid. Most eyelid lesions are not vision-threatening or life-threatening, but you should be evaluated by your eye doctor to ensure there are no concerns. A malposition is when the eyelid is not in its normal anatomical position which can affect peripheral vision, its ability to protect the eye and tear drainage.

Malposition
Upper lid malposition can cause:

Upper lid conditions
- Ptosis
- Drooping of Upper Eyelid due to muscle or tendon laxity

- Hooding of upper eyelid due to excess skin

- Trichiasis
- Misdirection of eyelashes
 - Rub Against surface of eye

Lower lid conditions
- Ectropion
- Outward rotation of lower eyelid
 - Causes excessive tearing as tears cannot be properly directed to tear ducts for drainage from the eye

- Entropion
- Inward rotation of lower eyes
 - Causes irritation due to eyelashes being misdirected against cornea (Surface of eye)
